Have you got their back?
We are celebrating International Women's Day by doing something new! There are so many amazing women I've met in my life...many of whom I met through my studies at Eastern University's School of Leadership and Development. Most of the studies were online, but each year we all met in South Africa for the residency portion. Wow. Incredible time... incredible people! Both men and women...
Going to grad school with four little ones at home was a little nuts (not that I've ever heard that before), and did I mention a three week trip to Africa every year? It was a huge stretch but so worth it. I'm not sure what it is that's in me that made me think I could do it. I do know, though, that whatever it was, it wasn't only me. It was my family, my patient husband, my great kids... What made me successful was support. Bottom line, nothing helps more than folks who've got your back.
Sure, there were a lot of us from the west, but there were a lot who were also from countries in Africa: Kenya, Swaziland, Malawi. As much as it took for me to be there, multiply my journey by 1000.
In honor of that transformative school and the transformative life it has created for me, for every new subscription in March, I'll be donating $2 to the scholarship fund for women students, just like me, to attend Eastern University School of Leadership and Development.
Let it Bubble Up!
